Inflatable Bouncy Castle Slide

A picture-to-CAD and reverse-engineering case study for an inflatable play product. The SolidWorks model was reconstructed from supplied agency imagery and measured scale references to depict a close 1:1 visual replica, including the bounce area, slide, inflated rails, entry opening, rounded cushion forms, and colour-blocked product styling.

Project Overview

The bouncy castle project focused on reverse-engineering a soft inflatable product from reference photographs. Measurements were interpreted against known scale references and rebuilt in SolidWorks using a 1:1 modelling workflow, producing a structured assembly and visual render for product communication.

Project Category

Inflatable outdoor play product

Design Method

Reverse engineering and picture-to-CAD SolidWorks modelling using measured scale references

Main Components

Inflated base, slide, soft play walls, entry opening, rounded rails, roof form

Material Context

Inflatable PVC-style product geometry represented for visual CAD communication

Standard Context

BS EN 14960 and EN 71 activity-toy context considered; no public certification claim

Software

SolidWorks

Output

Public render and Draco-compressed GLB web model

Status

Public-safe case study prepared

Engineering Challenge

The main challenge was recreating soft inflated geometry inside a mechanical CAD workflow, while keeping the model simple enough for website viewing and avoiding unsupported compliance claims.

Design Solution

The final output presents a clean image-referenced SolidWorks model with simplified inflated forms, slide path, entry opening, colour regions, and public render. The web model is Draco-compressed for fast loading.

Key Features

  • Reverse-engineered SolidWorks model created from supplied agency reference images and measured scale references
  • 1:1 proportional modelling workflow used to recreate the inflatable product geometry
  • Rounded inflated rails, slide body, play enclosure, entry opening, and colour-blocking represented
  • Inflatable play design reviewed with awareness of BS EN 14960 and EN 71 activity-toy context
  • Simplified public-facing geometry prepared for smooth browser viewing
  • Draco-compressed GLB prepared for fast web load

Project Deliverables

  • SolidWorks visual product model
  • Approved public render
  • Draco-compressed GLB web model
  • Public-safe project summary
